Cobblestone Quilters Guild offers a wide variety of resources for our members...opportunities to learn, to serve, and to share.

 Guild Resources

Meetings consist of a brief business report, and activities including Quilt Treasure, Block of The Month Drawing, Program, and Show and Tell. The Library, Quilt Treasure table, Ways and Means, and Block of the Month approximately 30 minutes before the meeting begins.

PROGRAM: Our Program Committee presents interesting and informative programs each month. Once or twice a year we bring in a nationally known teacher who presents a lecture and offers classes. In the recent past we have presented Joan Shay, Ricky Tims, Barbara Brackman, Marge Edie, Hollis Chatelaine, and Charlotte Warr Anderson.

We offer hands-on programs featuring accomplished quilters from our guild, and invite speakers from the community to talk on topics of interest to the members. Classes may be offered by some of our program guests. Financial assistance scholarships are available to guild members on a confidential basis. Mail a request to the Guild's Post Office Box and mark the envelope "Scholarship Program", or contact the Guild president.

See Meeting and Workshop Schedule for information about our programs.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Each year our guild chooses a charity, which primarily supports women or children. We have made quilts for the My Sister's House, Ronald McDonald House, Cancer Survivor bags and pillows, ABC Baby Quilts, and much more!

BLOCK OF THE MONTH: The Block of the Month (BOM) committee sells pre-cut fabrics and a pattern for $2 at each meeting. At the next meeting we display the returned blocks and draw for winners.  Winners receive enough blocks to make a wall-hanging, a lap quilt, and sometimes a full-size quilt!  There are usually at least four winners each month.

LIBRARY: The guild maintains a library of over 200 books. Members may borrow books for one month. New books are added several times a year. Refer to our Guild Library for information on available titles.

QUILT TREASURE: Each month the members contribute interesting items such as baskets of fabric, books, and whatsits for the treaure. Money raised goes to support our scholarship fund for members who may be unable to afford classes.

SHOW AND TELL: Members and visitors bring their finished projects for all to admire and inspire.

WAYS AND MEANS: The Guild offers items for sale to raise funds for the guild. We offer Guild cookbooks, Tee shirts, Guild pins and more.

The Guild also sponsors other activities that do not occur at our regular meetings

QUILTERS' DAY OUT: At least twice a year we have an informal week-end meeting and work on a special project, or bring our own unfinished UFO to work on.

BEACH RETREAT: A weekend retreat held on Seabrook island each summer. Participants bring their own projects. Space is limited and fills early.

QUILT SHOW: The Guild presents a Quilt Show every other year. Refer to Upcoming 2010 Quilt Show for more information. To volunteer to help, email email@charlestonquiltguild.com
